Mangaluru: Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing celebrates silver jubilee

Mangaluru, Dec 4: “The Government of India has begun several programmes to empower service oriented women. Nitte University in this connection is providing increased support to women by getting into an agreement with the university in Japan,” opined Dr Masatoki Kaneko, dean of Miyazaki University nursing institutes. She spoke after setting in motion 'Samyatha – 25' programme on the eve of the silver jubilee celebrations of Nitte Usha Nursing Institute, Nitte University at Panir College campus on Saturday December 2.

“India is providing excellent opportunities to mix with foreign universities. Shakthi programme is held to empower the students. Indian women are indulging more in service work through it,” he said.



Dr Harish Kumar Madhyasta, dean of Miyazaki University Medical Science organization, chief guest said that nursing is a unique part of medical health. “The student community must try to make the agreement a success. The university in Japan is trying to enter into agreement with universities in Jharkhand, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Miyazaki University president professor Ikanove intends to make all the departments relating to health work and build an excellent society.”

Nitte University head, N Vinay Hegde said that the medical field without nurses is worthless. “Nurses should provide good service to highlight the name of the institute. The health sector will succeed if they develop an attitude to look after patients with compassion.”

Nitte University vice chancellor Dr Sathish Kumar Bhandary B was present.

Dr Kaneko released a souvenir on academic and non academic subjects. Dr Vinay Hegde released a documentary of the way the nursing institute has progressed, facilities and service.

College principal Dr Fathima D'Silva, who has been serving in the college for a long time, professor Philomena Fernandes, professor Shiny Paul, assistant professors Latha, Nalini, librarian Janvi and Vijay were honored. Talented students and excellent teachers were felicitated.

College principal Dr Fathima D'Silva welcomed the gathering, Viola D'Souza compered the programme. Professor Jeevitha Abhishek and Latha read the list of felicities. Old student association secretary Clita Pinto read the annual report. College vice principal Sabitha Nayak proposed the vote of thanks.
